Richard has been working as a community pharmacist for over 30 years, initially as an employee pharmacist in West Wales. He then ran his own independent pharmacy in the town of Llandysul for 24 years, before working as a locum pharmacist in the area since 2008.

Previously, Richard have been involved in pharmacy politics as a member of the Local Pharmaceutical Committees and Community Pharmacy Wales, both locally and at national level. He was also a member of the Board of Management of the NPA for seven years as one of the two Welsh representatives.

Richard is a Welsh speaker and has been the voice for pharmacy in Wales on many occasions, with interviews for both TV and radio in Wales, talking on behalf of RPS and the profession on a range of topics and issues.
