Pharmacist Support is an independent charity for pharmacists and their families, preregistration trainees and pharmacy students in need. The Charity’s free and confidential services include:
The Charity has provided a lifeline for pharmacists who, through circumstances often beyond their control – personal illness, disability or other life changing events - have required much needed help and assistance. This has been provided in many formats on a short or long-term basis and is specifically tailored to the individual’s circumstances and needs.
Pharmacist Support began its life as the Benevolent Fund of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (the RPSGB as it was then known). In 2006 the Council of the Society agreed a new governing deed allowing the charity to develop independently of the RPSGB and handed over governance to eight trustees. Since then, the Charity has built upon the solid foundations laid by the Society, expanding its services and assisting more and more pharmacists, preregistration trainees, pharmacy students and those retired from the profession.
The charity is keen to raise awareness of its free and confidential support services and would appreciate contact from any RPS members able to assist in spreading the word. A member of the Pharmacist Support team would be more than happy to visit your organisation or local practice forum to distribute information or give a presentation on the support available. Alternatively we can provide articles or copy for your newsletter and leaflets and factsheets for circulation amongst your teams, staff or membership.
Pharmacist Support is registered under charity number 221438 and relies on donations from pharmacists to continue its work. Donations can be made via the charity website, by visiting www.justgiving.com/pharmacistsupport or by contacting the general enquiry line number/email address below.
You can support the work of the charity in many ways:
- via a one off online donation
- via a one off text donation
- regular monthly payments
- as a gift in memory of a loved one
- as a legacy
- or by organising a fundraiser.
Whichever route you choose and no matter how large or small your donation, it will make a real difference to the lives of pharmacists and their families in times of need.
