UK Medicines Information
UKMi is the United Kingdom Medicines Information network — a pharmacist-led service that helps patients and healthcare professionals use medicines safely and effectively. We provide evidence-based tailored advice on the pharmaceutical care of individual patients; we also produce a portfolio of innovative products designed to help clinicians, managers, and commissioners deliver high-quality cost-effective services.
UKMi is a virtual network in which local patient-focussed services in acute-Trusts are advanced, developed, and supported regionally and nationally. There are around 220 local medicines information centres facilitated by 16 larger ones serving specific geographies; centres pool resource to work under the UKMi banner. National standards underpin the work of medicines information pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, who have both clinical expertise and particular skills in locating and interpreting information about medicines. Through UKMi, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have access to various training resources and short courses, an active discussion forum, and both regional and national development and networking events.
Full details of the range of products and services offered by UKMi can be found here with much of the content delivered by the network available on the National Electronic Library for Medicines (NeLM).
