Responsible Pharmacist toolkit

The responsible pharmacist regulations came into effect on 1 October 2009.

There are four key areas the law covers:

  1. Display a notice
  2. Pharmacy records
  3. Pharmacy procedures
  4. Absence from the pharmacy

The toolkit provides you with professional support and the key information you will need in relation to the Health Act 2006, responsible pharmacist regulations and the way in which you should apply these in practice. It is also available here.

The toolkit is for use by pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacy trainees, undergraduates and pharmacy technicians. In fact, anyone who works, or might work, in a registered pharmacy needs to know about the role of the responsible pharmacist.

We have included specific information for pharmacy staff, locums, hospital pharmacists, owners and superintendents. Even if you don't work in a pharmacy now, these changes are significant to our profession and working through this toolkit should be used as part of your CPD.
