Less than £4 a week - Recognise

There are 49,000 reasons why pharmacists should be recognised.

You're one of them.

We believe that being a member of the Society is a fundamental part of your professional identity. It's about demonstrating your commitment to maintaining your skills and developing new ones and your commitment to patient care.

As a professional, patients places their trust in your expertise and care.

Recognising the profession

You have told us that one of the key areas you expect your professional body to lead on for you is to work to raise the profile of the profession, so what you do is understood by governments, other health professionals and the general public. We see greater presence in the media as a fundamental way to achieve this.

Working in partnership with established specialist groups we are creating a network of clinical experts, who will be able to speak on behalf of the profession in national media. As news stories break, we will have expert pharmacists providing briefings to journalists, appearing in the press, on TV and on radio.

At a local level we will have a network of spokespeople, made up of grass roots pharmacists who will be on hand to support the national activity locally. Working with local practice forums and in touch with local media they will represent their professional community. Media trained and with toolkits to support them, we will empower the membership to ensure their profession is recognised both locally and nationally.

Recognising your commitment

Only our members can use the MRPharmS and FRPharmS designatory letters. It isn’t just about the pride that comes with having those letters after your name; it’s the recognition that you are committed to pharmacy as a profession, as well as to your own development. It is the mark of professionalism which gives reassurance and confidence to the public and other healthcare professionals.

Recognising your development

We’re working to establish clear common levels of practice across the profession and developing an inspirational career ladder. As a member you’ll have access to the frameworks and assessments we’re developing with the profession to recognise your professional development post registration.

Recognising the profession’s history

As the only museum in the world dedicated to British pharmacy history, the Museum is the international point of contact for researchers, media, museums, health professionals and academics seeking to explore and portray the profession’s history.

Recognising pharmacy as a career of choice

In addition to raising the profile of the profession in the media, we will work with the Schools of Pharmacy to make pharmacy the number one career choice for school leavers. Providing materials so that our members can present confidently at careers fairs on reasons to choose pharmacy and encourage the next generation of pharmacists.
