Early detection of cancer

Cancer is the second biggest killer in the UK and our five year survival rates are lower than the average across Europe. Improving early cancer diagnosis is a key priority.

We believe pharmacists can play in an important role in the early detection and diagnosis of cancer. Raising awareness and talking to patients about signs and symptoms of different cancers really can save lives because it can result in earlier diagnosis and better treatment options for patients.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society continues to support various campaigns throughout the year to promote the role of pharmacists in the early detection of cancer.
