The Humanitarian Aid Response Network

Scope

The Humanitarian Aid and Response Network (HARN) is a joint venture between the Society and International Health Partners (http://www.ihpuk.org) and is for any RPS member who has an interest in or has participated in international humanitarian aid work.

Aims

  • to raise the awareness of the role pharmacists can play in humanitarian aid and response
  • to develop an understanding of the various skills pharmacists can provide to humanitarian aid and response
  • to create a register of potential volunteers to partake in Humanitarian aid

 

The main objectives of HARN are to provide its members:

  • With news and information about pharmacist participation in international humanitarian aid on a monthly basis
  • Who participate in humanitarian aid with a forum to share their experiences
  • With access to pharmacy related opportunities in humanitarian aid
  • With access to relevant training to participate in humanitarian aid and response

 

Volunteer register requirements

Membership of HARN provides you with access to news and information about humanitarian aid and response as well as the ability to participate in network activities

Not all members of HARN will want/be able to go on to the volunteer register. To qualify for the HARN volunteer register you must meet the following criteria:

  • you must be MRPharmS or FRPharmS i.e. you must be qualified to practice
  • be able to take between 2 - 3 weeks away from your practice with reimbursement
  • Be available within 24 - 28 hrs of a call for response
  • All levels of pharmacy experience are welcomed but if you have experience of the following please state so: surgery, medicines procurement, manufacturing, and QA.
