World Pharmacists Day

World Pharmacists Day - 25 September

Each year, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) encourages member organisations and pharmacists worldwide to participate in this event on 25 September, the day that FIP was founded on in 1912.

2013

This year's theme is Pharmacists: simplifying your medicines use, no matter how complex. It comes as the RPS launches the second stage of its medicines optimisation campaign which aims to help patients understand their medicines better to avoid medicines waste and improve health.

The RPS is publishing five briefings over the coming weeks on medicines optimisation detailing what it means for each sector of pharmacy (community, academic, primary care, hospital, industry), and how they can support it and make medicines optimisation part of routine practice. These are available for members to download from the Resources section of this page, or from our Medicines optimisation hub.

In these short videos, Lindsey Gilpin, Locum Community Pharmacist and Nick Kaye, Independent Community Pharmacist speak about what Community Pharmacy is doing to support Medicines Optimisation and look at what more can be done
