Your feedback is making a real difference

In January 2009 we introduced our membership “Attitude Tracker” survey to give you the opportunity to feedback to us as we move towards the launch of the new professional leadership body. Each quarter we take a random sample of around 10,000 members and ask them to complete the survey to inform the development of the new professional leadership body.

In the January 2010 survey we sense checked that the services we are developing are still important to you. Below are the findings from the survey.

Attitude tracker findings

Here are just a few of the services we are developing as a result of the feedback we received:

  • The provision of practice guidance as an essential service has gone from 58% to 85% in two years. Therefore we are developing a range of practical guidance and support tools to help you keep abreast of any changes or developments that affect your practice. We’ll interpret new regulations so you understand on day one what they mean for you and what you need to do to meet them.
  • We have recruited a dedicated support team where you can seek advice, support and guidance, in complete confidence, around professional practice as well as ethical issues. The team consists of advisors, pharmacists and senior pharmacists with the skills to give you the support that you require. The support service provides advice on current issues and is designed to be a member’s first port of call. You can telephone the team direct on 0207 572 2302 or submit your query via a new online form at a time that suits you.
  • It is encouraging to see that while around 10% of the membership currently engages with Branches 79% are keen to see the development of the new Local Practice Forums (LPFs) for networking, events and delivery of support locally. Building on the very real achievements of Branches we are working with members to establish over 50 LPFs that will offer you the opportunity to network and share best practice, access CPD peer sessions and mentoring opportunities as well as the chance to get involved in practice research. Importantly LPF services will be accessible virtually via the website as well as through face to face meetings.
  • We recently launched online groups where you can network with other pharmacists with similar interests, or those who work in the same area of practice, at a time that suits you. These groups will provide you with another support network so you can find out how your peers have dealt with similar issues.

Members have also regularly told us that they would like to be kept up to date about pharmacy related news stories so they can feel better informed and understand the context of any patient enquiries that may arise from the story. After trialling a daily pharmacy news bulletin with some members, the Society’s media team will be launching a new media service later this year. The Daily Pharmaceutical News will provide an update on general media stories relating to pharmacy.

Look out for the next Attitude Tracker survey due to be sent at the end of July and please take the time to complete it and let us know what you think. As Attitude Tracker is sent to a random representative sample not all members will receive it, however you can ask to be added to the distribution list by emailing Nicole Baines.

Please do continue to let us know your thoughts and ideas so we can continue to improve our service as your professional leadership body.
