Director of Scotland
Alex MacKinnon joined RPS in October 2010.
Prior to this he held various senior community pharmacy related posts including: Head of Corporate Affairs for Community Pharmacy Scotland from 2007-2010, Head of Professional Service Development, Communication and External Affairs for the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council 2005 – 2007 and Head of Government Relations for Lloydspharmacy in Scotland 2003 – 2004.
Alex was also Regional Manager for Lloyds Chemists and Lloydspharmacy for almost a decade from 1995 to 2003 after a period of working as a community pharmacist at a pharmacy manager and area manager level with R. Gordon Drummond Ltd, Savory and Moore Chemists and Lloyds Chemists.
Alex was also a member of the Standing Committee of the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council from 2001 to 2004 and Vice Chairman of the same organisation during 2004. Alex has been a member of numerous pharmacy committees in Scotland throughout his career.
Alex graduated from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, in 1975 with a BSc Honours in Pharmacy.
His main interests include politics, family, motorsport, hill-walking, cycling, music and of course pharmacy.
