Fiona Jones MPharmS MFRPSII

Welsh Pharmacy Board

Community sector

Fiona was elected onto the Welsh Pharmacy Board in 2015, having a background in both Community Pharmacy as director with her husband and Primary Care as a Prescribing Advisor and Advanced Practice Pharmacist.

Her passion is to see better integration of pharmacists into multidisciplinary and community teams and her work last year won a BCUHB Outstanding Achievement Award and has this year been selected for the NHS Wales Awards which will take place in Cardiff in September.

This work involved setting up a referral system where Social workers and other Community Healthcare professionals could refer to a pharmacist to support their patients at home with their medication, reducing the risk of misadventure and hospital admission.

In 2015 Fiona also completed her PgCert in Medical education which has  formalised her many years of working with year 5 medical students and GP registrars in the local North Wales area.

A qualified Independent prescriber since 2007, Fiona has led chronic conditions clinics in hypertension and cardiovascular disease and clinical medication reviews for the elderly, with a keen interest in poly-pharmacy and de-prescribing.

In 2015, Fiona was also awarded membership of the Faculty (MFRPSII) and continues to act as mentor for other pharmacist taking the first step on their Faculty journeys.

As a very creative person Fiona enjoys lots of arts and crafts, walking her spaniel and foreign travel.
