BAME communities and Covid-19

There’s much work ongoing in the NHS and internationally around the increased risk of coronavirus in BAME communities.

Our profession has a high representation of BAME colleagues, comprising 43% of the pharmacy workforce. We recognise the impact on our profession and want to ensure pharmacy is included in national plans to keep healthcare workers safe.

We are doing two things immediately:

Director for England Ravi Sharma is a speaker at a webinar on Ethnicity, COVID-19 and Primary Care with NHS Chief People Officer Prerana Issar and Medical Director of Primary Care at NHS England Nikki Kanani at 6.30pm on Wednesday 6^th May.

We will be holding our own Facebook Live event next Thursday to hear your views of the issues around BAME communities and the added risks colleagues and their teams may be facing. Keep an eye on our social media channels for how to join this event.
