COVID-19 vaccine self-referral extension for pharmacy staff

Pharmacy teams in England can now book their COVID-19 vaccine through a self-referral extension service set up by NHS England.

To ensure that all frontline healthcare workers who want the jab can receive it, the National Booking Service allows healthcare staff in England to book their vaccine directly at a vaccination centre or pharmacy-led site.

The service is only expected to remain open to healthcare staff for a limited period of time, so it’s important that you make your vaccine appointment quickly if you haven’t done so already.

You can sign up online at www.nhs.uk/CovidVaccination or by calling 119.

Claire Anderson, Chair of the English Pharmacy Board, said:

“Pharmacists and their teams continue to work hard to support patients during the pandemic, so it’s important that they are protected from the virus. The vaccines that we have available are highly effective at reducing infection rates and preventing serious illness. If you haven’t received your first dose of the vaccine yet, make sure to book an appointment as soon as possible through this service.”
