Elen Jones has been appointed as the new RPS Director for Wales. This important role is accountable for national policy development, professional advocacy and member engagement across Wales, in partnership with the Welsh Pharmacy Board. Elen will drive professional leadership for the pharmacy profession in Wales, working with RPS members.

Elen said:

“I’m delighted to have been appointed Director, having worked closely with staff and the Welsh Pharmacy Board for the past 5 years in my role as RPS Policy and Practice Lead. I’m looking forward to working with our passionate and driven team to deliver even more for our vibrant and engaged membership. The positive context in Wales, with the upcoming publication of the new vision for pharmacy and the recent announcement of new funding for pharmacy training, gives us lots to build on. I’m hugely excited and honoured to take up the role and I’m committed ensuring that patient care remains at the forefront of everything we do.”

Commenting on Elen’s appointment, RPS Director of Pharmacy and Member Experience Robbie Turner said:

“Elen has been instrumental in driving policy development in Wales and Great Britain and I’m keen to work with her as Director. She already has extensive networks throughout Wales with pharmacists, other healthcare organisations, patient groups and the Welsh Government. Her experience combined with her drive and energy will help us build our capability to deliver our mission and vision in Wales.”

Suzanne Scott-Thomas, RPS Wales Pharmacy Board Chair said:

“Elen will work with the Board to drive forward its priorities and continue the collaborative culture of the leaders of the profession in Wales. I know Elen is keen to further explore the seamless pharmaceutical care model working across traditional boundaries and with members of the multidisciplinary team. She will lead and develop opportunities for the profession to improve the lives of patients and the public and I am delighted we will be working together on this.”
