HEE Foundation Pharmacist Report now published

Last year we launched our Foundation Pharmacist Framework. The underpinning evidence for the Framework is a collaborative research project on the role analysis of Foundation Pharmacists undertaken in partnership with Health Education England.

The research report has now been published and makes a number of recommendations that are evidence based, cost effective and meet the needs of the future workforce and patients.

The Work Psychology Group (WPG) led on the review work by conducting interviews, focus groups with pharmacy stakeholder and a survey asking participants for their views on early career pharmacists.

Gail Fleming, RPS Director of Education, said:

“It is essential that the RPS Foundation Pharmacist Framework is evidence based and reflects both current and future roles of foundation pharmacists. The research undertaken by the Work Psychology Group extended across the UK and all sectors of pharmacy practice and we are delighted that so many people directly participated in the project. The RPS will be using this framework in the next stages of the programme to produce a curriculum and national assessment over the coming months.”
