Look back at South Asian Heritage Month highlights

South Asian Heritage Month, which explores the history and identity of British South Asians, ends today. We’ve celebrated in style in collaboration with Pharmacy Technicians of Colour, APTUK and others.

Here are the highlights for you to check out:

Cast your eye on some 19th Century art. On Twitter, we posted an image of a watercolour named 'Indian Chemist' dating to the 1820s. The practice of dispensing medicines has a long history in India. The Charaka Samhita is a medical text that dates to before the 2nd century CE.

Listen in to our Lunchtime Live series. We celebrated South Asian Heritage in Pharmacy in collaboration with Pharmacy Technicians of Colour, APTUK and others throughout the last month. We hosted lunchtime live sessions across Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin and Instagram covering a range of topics. See personal experiences in our celebrating South Asian contributions in Pharmacy session, hear from some South Asian Female Pharmacy Leaders and join in considering Intersectionality within South Asian communities.

Read about the experiences of South Asian pharmacists living in Britain, thanks to a blog by Gurinder Singh exploring the responsibility being placed on a young South Asian living within British culture, and Shaheen Bhatia, whose roller coaster life started when she arrived in the UK aged 7.

Meet the team behind the scenes on Instagram. RPS Head of Professional Belonging Amandeep Doll was joined by Sachin Patel, Samantha Quaye and Janaki Chitsabesan to hear why highlighting South Asian Heritage Month was important to them.

You showed us what you know in the SAHM quiz on Twitter! From asking what year did Malala Yousafzai win the Nobel Prize from Pakistan, to finding out which South Asian country is the smallest in size, the quiz on August 12 tested members' South Asia knowledge.

And finally we got introduced to an amazing South Asian pharmacist every day for the whole month on Twitter #SAHMPharm.
