National Patient Safety Alert UKHSA Contamination of hygiene products with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (update)

The National Patient Safety Alert (Contamination of hygiene products with Pseudomonas aeruginosa) issued on 24 June 2022 has been updated.

Trading Standards has been informed of additional Vernacare-produced products which are sold by other companies using different product names. These additional products have been added to the previous alert. The ‘Actions to be completed’ deadline has been changed from 1 July 2022 to 15 July 2022.

It is crucial to ensure relevant products are removed, especially from health and care settings. There is a need to raise awareness among health and care professionals who might encounter potentially associated cases to inform clinical care, surveillance and public health action.

Further details and actions can be found in the alert.
