New Scottish Pharmacy Board Formed

A new Scottish Pharmacy Board has been formed.

There are three new faces on the Board: Josh Miller, Richard Shearer and Jill Swan. In addition, the Board co-opted Kelsey Drummond to a newly created Early Career Pharmacist place. There are also three departing Board Members: Dr Brian Addison, Kathleen Cowle and John McAnaw.

Members of the new Scottish Pharmacy Board also elected a new Vice-Chair and Member to sit on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS’s) Assembly, which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of RPS.

Catriona Sinclair, Community Pharmacist in Highland with over thirty years’ experience in pharmacy, was elected Vice-Chair of the Board.

Audrey Thompson, Lead Pharmacist for Prescribing in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with over twenty-five years’ experience in primary care, was elected to RPS Assembly.

Speaking about the formation of the new Board, Andrew Carruthers, Chair of Scottish Pharmacy Board said:

“I’m delighted to welcome four new RPS Members to the Scottish Pharmacy Board. Josh, Richard, Jill and Kelsey all have fantastic skills and experience which will be well used as Board Members.

Serving on the Board is a huge opportunity to positively shape the future direction of the pharmacy profession in Scotland.

On behalf of the whole Board, I’d like to thank Brian, Kathleen and John who have provided so much time and commitment to the Board over the last few years.

“I’d also like to congratulate Catriona on becoming Vice-Chair of the Board, and Audrey on her election to RPS Assembly.  I know both Catriona and Audrey will do a fantastic job on behalf of the profession in Scotland, and we are fortunate to have them serving in these important positions.”
