Pharmacist Sana Masood dies from COVID-19

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is deeply saddened to hear of the death of pharmacist Sana Masood from COVID-19.

Sana worked at Neil’s Pharmacy in Prescot, Liverpool and died on 1 April aged 30. She graduated from Liverpool John Moores University and is survived by her husband Azam, mother and two brothers.

Ms Masood’s family and friends have set up an online fund in her memory to build a school in Pakistan as ‘Sadaqah Jariyah’ - ‘ongoing charity’ - in her name, and are over two-thirds of the way to their target of £9000. Any proceedings that exceed the target will be donated to DiabetesUK, as Sana lived with the condition from childhood.

Speaking on behalf of RPS, CEO Paul Bennett said:

"This is awful news. Sana’s life as a pharmacist focused on supporting and caring for patients. Her loss is not only a tragedy for her family, friends and colleagues, but also for all the patients she helped during her career.

“We offer our sincere condolences to Sana’s family at this very difficult time.”
