RPS launch Royal Colleges medicine safety webinar series

We're collaborating with a group of Royal Colleges to bring a series of educational webinars for its members, focusing on the safer use of medicines.

The group, which also includes the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), Royal College of Nursing (RCN), Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), will provide a multidisciplinary perspective on how best to understand and reduce medication-related harm.

The safe and effective use of medicines is one of our key priorities and in these sessions, attendees will learn new ways to improve medication safety for patients with and from pharmacist, physician and nursing colleagues.

The first webinar will take place on Tuesday 27th April and focuses on high-risk medicines. To find out more, click here.

Gail Fleming, Director for Education and Professional Development at RPS, said: “This education series is an exciting new opportunity for us to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to the safe and effective use of medicines. By sharing expertise and good practice between professions, we hope to better empower our audience to be medication safety champions, no matter what healthcare setting they are in. I am delighted to be working with the other Royal colleges on this project, and look forward to continuing our joint work to improve patient outcomes.”

John Dean, Clinical Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at RCP, said: “I am delighted that we are working with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society on this webinar series, which focuses on the safer use of medicines. And as a practicing physician, I know how important it is for Physicians, Pharmacists and Nurses to work closely together with patients for the safe use of medicines. By sharing evidence, best practice and discussing first-hand experiences, this series aims to support your practice and our endeavours to continuously improve healthcare systems.”

The series is open to all members of RPS, RCP, RCGP, RCN, RCPCH and BPS.
