Sky News highlights work of pharmacy heroes

Sky News interviewed RPS President Sandra Gidley and Halifax pharmacist Amanda Smith as part of a package on the role of frontline pharmacists dealing with the covid-19 crisis.

Sandra told Sky News that it had been “a real struggle” for pharmacies to cope with these new demands and urged patients to understand that pharmacists and their teams are doing their best to get the medicines they need.

The piece also features RPS member Amanda Smith and her pharmacy in West Yorkshire. Amanda praised the spirit of the community pharmacy profession and said that pharmacy teams across the country “are doing an amazing job”. But she did admit that she is struggling to get essential gloves and masks to protect her staff against the virus.

We have called for the government to ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is made available to pharmacies across all settings.
