Tesco signs up for RPS workshops on CPCS

We are delighted to announce that we will hold continuing professional development (CPD) workshops for pharmacists working in Tesco pharmacies, as part of the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS).

The agreement means around 600 Tesco pharmacists will be eligible for the programme from January 2021.

Working with Health Education England and the Royal College of General Practitioners, we launched the CPD in October for all community pharmacists across England.

Since then, we have been providing workshops for pharmacists in patient-facing consultations and clinical assessments, so they are able to manage referrals from NHS 111 and GPs.

The CPD also helps pharmacists develop new ways of working within primary care network multidisciplinary teams and explains how CPCS sits alongside other areas of the wider NHS.

Gail Fleming, Director of Education and Professional Development at the RPS said:

“We are delighted to be working in collaboration with Tesco, ensuring that their pharmacists can access CPCS continuing professional development at times that suit them best. The feedback we’ve had back from pharmacists who’ve attended the sessions to date has been extremely positive, particularly in relation to building confidence in clinical observations and identifying red flags.”

Adrian Price, Tesco Superintendent Pharmacist, said:

“Tesco Pharmacy have been pleased to work together with the RPS on a project that delivers a clear benefit for our customers and aligns with national priorities. We look forward to future collaborations as momentum grows around this kind of initiative.”

The CPCS workshops take place via our digital platform. Find out more and how you can take part.
