Women’s History Month round up

Our month celebrating women in pharmacy began on International Women’s Day, whose theme this year was #breakthebias.

RPS President Professor Claire Anderson shared her own experiences as someone who broke the bias by becoming the first woman Professor to be appointed to her School of Pharmacy in 2003.

With the Female Pharmacy Leaders Network we shone a light on some incredible pharmacy professionals who are breaking biases and leading the way in the profession. Catch up or watch it again.

Women’s health was top of the agenda for the month, with a candid account from pharmacist Kathryn Murray on the effects of menopause on mental health and wellbeing. Our statement on women’s health outlines how pharmacists and their teams can help improve services provided to women and reduce women’s health inequalities

Our fantastic Museum shed light on the life of an early pharmacy pioneer, Alice Freke. You can get further inspiration from the Museum’s exhibition Celebrating Women in Pharmacy.

Our first-ever lead for pharmacogenomics, Sophie Harding, explained her vision that pharmacists should play a central role in this rapidly developing area of medicine and highlighted her role in pharmacogenomics testing at the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

Women also shared their lived experiences through blogs on inclusion and diversity – take a look.
