Wuhan coronavirus advice

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.

Advice has been issued for all clinical staff encountering patients with respiratory infections arrived from overseas.  We've put together a package of information on the Wuhan novel coronavirus to keep you updated on the latest developments. It's got lots of useful links to coronavirus-related resources produced by the government and other bodies.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. If possible avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

The RPS has a Coronavirus hub page here - providing advice for pharmacists and answering their questions on how to handle the pandemic.
