Scottish Board Member invited to Madrid this week

A member of the RPS Scottish Pharmacy Board has been invited to an international meeting of pharmacists in Madrid on Thursday 5 May, to share experiences of community pharmacy from Scotland.  Pharmacists from across Europe have been invited to a prestigious roundtable, ‘International Experiences in Professional Pharmaceutical Health Services’ to share their own experiences of how pharmaceutical services are being developed in different countries.

Catriona Sinclair FRPharmS, is a Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Scottish Pharmacy Board. A very experienced community pharmacist, Catriona has her own pharmacy in the Highlands.  As an active independent prescriber, she is at the cutting edge of the pharmacy profession in Scotland. At the event, Catriona will discuss the significant contribution of community pharmacy towards achieving improved health outcomes and reducing health inequalities for local populations.

Speaking ahead of her visit to Madrid, Catriona said: “I’m honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate with pharmacists from across Europe, and to share my experiences of working as a community pharmacist in Scotland.

Having worked as a pharmacist in both urban and rural settings for over 30 years, I have been privileged to witness the evolution of the pharmacy profession over the past few decades, and the hugely positive influence pharmacists make every day.

“Now a pharmacy owner in a rural setting, I am passionate about the role of pharmacy in tackling health inequalities, and in particular, remote deprivation. I look forward to presenting on this, and equally, meeting colleagues from across Europe and learning about their exciting and important work in pharmacy.”
