Calling all entrepreneur pharmacists: apply here

Apply for a place on NHS England's Clinical Entrepreneur programme

Pharmacists who are developing clinical innovations and enterprises to improve patient care and support service redesign are being urged to apply to NHS England’s Clinical Entrepreneur Training Programme.

Sandra Gidley RPS England Board Chair said: “Pharmacists have traditionally had an entrepreneurial mindset with regards to business development but there’s lots of other opportunities available too via start-ups, clinical routes and new health technologies.

“Having a national level training programme for clinical entrepreneurs enables the NHS to develop pharmacists and other healthcare professionals by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and leadership ability to drive up the quality of clinical care and benefit the health service.  If you’re bursting with ideas and think this scheme would benefit you I’d urge you to apply straightaway.”

Training includes:

  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Entrepreneurial placements/internships
  • Facilitation of relationships with commercial organisations to develop their business and procurement knowledge.
  • Education
  • Advice on Funding
  • Networking events

Applications are open 5th-31st March and interviews will take place in May and June in Leeds and London. Professor Tony Young, NHS England’s National Clinical Lead for Innovation, will be hosting two webinars for prospective applicants to find out more about the programme.
