Press Release

Exciting opportunity to join SIGN Council

There is currently an exciting opportunity for a Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Member to represent RPS on SIGN council as a Deputy Member.

SIGN develop evidence-based clinical guidelines which help health and social care professionals and patients understand medical evidence and use it to make decisions about healthcare. You can read more about SIGN’s work, here.

Members of SIGN Council determine the overall direction of SIGN’s development and play a key role in shaping the SIGN guideline programme.  The current SIGN Council Member representing RPS is Arlene Coulson.

Working as a deputy SIGN Council member will provide a pharmacist living or working in Scotland with the opportunity to gain valuable experience as a clinical leader, and of working with and understanding the detailed methodology of SIGN. The role is ideally suited to a motivated early career pharmacist with great communication skills, looking to gain experience in this area.

The pharmacist taking on the role would be supported by the current SIGN Council Member and by RPS staff as required. The Chief Pharmacist at Healthcare Improvement Scotland also offers professional support to this role, so this is a brilliant development opportunity.

Read more about this opportunity, including the specific responsibilities, here.

Interested pharmacists should send their CV, a brief personal statement explaining why they would like to be considered for the role and a supporting statement from their employer or line manager by 3 June to [email protected].  Informal interviews will be held on 16 June via MS Teams.

If anyone would like to discuss this opportunity, they can contact Practice and Policy Lead for Scotland, Laura Wilson on 0207 572 2228 or email [email protected]
