We have responded to the Scottish Parliament’s Health & Sport Committee’s call for evidence in relation to their inquiry into the impact of leaving the EU on health and social care in Scotland.
In our response, we highlighted five key areas where the outcomes of negotiations were crucial in relation to pharmacy and medicines, namely:
- Patient access to new and emerging treatments
- Medicines supply chain issues
- Counterfeit and falsified medicines
- Medical research
While we are conscious that some of these areas are out-with the responsibility of the Scottish Parliament, we considered it crucial that our policy makers, who are responsible for health decisions in our Scottish NHS, are aware of the wider impacts that leaving the EU presents to our health services.
