Welsh Chief Pharmacists commit to RPS Pledge

Every Chief Pharmacist in Wales has committed to sign up to the RPS Inclusion and Wellbeing Pledge. The importance of the Pledge was discussed at a recent meeting of the All Wales Chief Pharmacists Group where it was unanimously supported by all of its members.

The All Wales Chief Pharmacist Group brings together the Chief Pharmacists and Clinical Directors for Pharmacy and Medicines Management from each Local Health Board and the Velindre Cancer Centre – University NHS Trust. Collectively the group has strategic and operational oversight and responsibility for the development of integrated pharmacy services in every part of Wales.

Commenting on the Pledge, the All Wales Chief Pharmacist Group said: “We are committed to fostering a healthy, happy and inclusive community of pharmacy in Wales and are therefore very pleased to fully support the RPS Pledge for Inclusion and wellbeing.

"We recognise the effort, commitment and dedication of all our staff in the last year and the amazing team spirit to deliver for patients. We would encourage all our pharmacy colleagues to sign the pledge as a way of demonstrating their on-going respect and support for each other."

RPS Director for Wales, Elen Jones, said: “We are delighted that all our chief pharmacists in Wales have signed up to our Pledge. We appreciate that a real difference can be made through strong leadership and by living the values outlined in our pledge.

"This commitment sends out a powerful message that pharmacy in Wales will not tolerate exclusion and unfairness and demonstrates a commitment to the wellbeing of the profession at an important time."

The RPS Pledge for Inclusion and Wellbeing is just one step on a journey towards embracing and celebrating the diversity of the profession, making it more inclusive and ensuring that everyone’s wellbeing is supported.
