BBC highlights calls for more to be done to reduce medicines waste

Every year £300 million of medicines are wasted. Between 30-50% of people don’t take their medicines as recommended and over 70% of admissions to hospital for adverse drug reactions are avoidable.

Recent research from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) revealed a need for patients to understand their medicines better to improve their health and reduce medicines waste.

BBC Online and BBC Radio 5Live have today highlighted RPS calls for more to be done to reduce this waste.
