Changes to glucose content of Lucozade Energy

The sugar and carbohydrate content levels of Lucozade Ribena Suntory drinks will be reduced by approximately 50%. The glucose content of all Lucozade Energy products will be changing from April 2017. This applies to all flavours and the new products will appear from April 2017. The sugar content of Ribena (Squash and Ready to Drink) and Orangina will also be reducing this year.  Please be aware that old bottles may still be available. Pharmacists may advise people with diabetes to consume Lucozade Energy for the treatment of hypoglycaemia, therefore people should be advised to check the label of any product that they purchase to ensure that they are aware of the correct quantity to consume. Pharmacists should be aware of the change in sugar content in instances where Lucozade Original is used for glucose tolerance tests. Some flavours will contain the sweetener aspartame, which is a source of phenylalanine. People with phenylketonuria should be advised to check the packaging of Lucozade Energy products they purchase to check if they contain phenylalanine. Pharmacists should also give advice to people with other metabolic conditions who may use Lucozade Energy, Ribena or Orangina.
