A snapshot of the country's only 24 hour pharmacy has featured in BBC1’s The One Show in the context of the proposed cuts to community pharmacy.
Filming took place overnight to show the variety of patient care offered by pharmacist Zafar Khan and his team in the small hours which takes the strain off local GP out of hours services and A&E. Zafar is the lead for the RPS London Central Local Practice Forum.
Patients are shown seeking Zafar’s advice having travelled many miles to get to the country’s only 24 hour pharmacy. Some are shift workers, some are local people he knows well who need medicines for themselves or their children, and some arrive with minor injuries. This vital service is much appreciated by the patients interviewed.
