Bernadette Brown, 51, local community pharmacist in Glenrothes and regional finalist for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s I Love My Pharmacist Award, has received support from Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth.
At the visit to Cadham Pharmacy, Jenny Gilruth spoke to Bernadette and two of her patients who shared how Bernadette’s care had transformed their lives. Bernadette also shared how she has been focussing on developing services that benefit her local community and how she has worked closely with the GP practice to deliver person-centred care and improve patient health outcomes, which in turn also takes some pressures of the GP practice. They also discussed how technology can help free up the pharmacist’s time to care for their patients and the team demonstrated to Ms Gilruth the benefits of their pharmacy robot ‘Mac’.
Bernadette Brown, said: “I am absolutely delighted that our local MSP Jenny Gilruth took time out to see the services we deliver to our local community here in Cadham Pharmacy. I am over the moon to have been shortlisted and was keen that Ms Gilruth had the chance to speak to some of my patients to hear for herself the kind of impact the care we deliver from our pharmacy has had on their lives.”
Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, said: “Bernadette’s hard work and commitment to Cadham and to the people that use the Pharmacy is clear to see. I was absolutely thrilled to hear she had been shortlisted for the ‘I love my pharmacist’ award – but I certainly wasn’t surprised. If you visit the pharmacy and speak to the people who use their services, it’s clear to see that Bernadette and her team go the extra mile – from patient care to cutting edge technology. It’s an inspiring approach to pharmacy and it’s a real community hub for people in Cadham. As the constituency MSP I’d like to wish Bernadette and all her staff the best of luck.”
