MHRA press release: Parents advised not to use unlicensed homeopathic teething products in infants and children
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a press release which advises parents of infants and young children not to use unlicensed homeopathic teething tablets or gels which are available to buy online due to the risk of side effects.
The MHRA has also included a list of homeopathic products which are licensed, however have also signposted to a Clinical Knowledge Summary (CKS), published by the National Institute of Clinical excellence (NICE) which summarises the available evidence and guidance on how to manage symptoms of teething produced by NICE. It is worth noting that CKS does not recommend either topical anaesthetics or complementary therapies.
