PhP enhances mental health decision making via MedicinesComplete

Pharmaceutical Press Essential Knowledge

Pharmaceutical Press, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s knowledge business has acquired The Psychotropic Drug Directory. The highly regarded 30-year-old publication has been sold by founding editor Stephen Bazire.

The Psychotropic Drug Directory references evidence-based studies and helps multidisciplinary teams confidently manage clinical scenarios, including those where additional health needs and/or multiple diagnoses are present.

Managing Director of Pharmaceutical Press and Deputy CEO of Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Karen Baxter said: “We are delighted to be able to work with Stephen to carry on his legacy and ensure the Psychotropic Drug Directory continues to be an essential reference supporting clinical decision-making. The addition of this valuable resource to MedicinesComplete will further enable health professionals to make informed decisions about the safe and effective use of drugs.”

Stephen Bazire Honorary Professor, School of Pharmacy, University of East Anglia | Director, Mistura Enterprise, said: “I am delighted to be passing responsibility for my publication to Pharmaceutical Press, an independent, not-for-profit publisher. Including the Psychotropic Drug Directory alongside so many other essential resources widely used throughout the NHS and beyond makes it even easier for clinicians to get all the medicines knowledge they need from one place.”

From January 2024, Psychotropic Drug Directory will be available through MedicinesComplete, an easy-to-use online platform. The content will be regularly updated and feature links to referenced sources including British National Formulary and Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference. Pharmaceutical Press will be supporting customers migrate from a print to a digital format throughout this period.
