Deputy News Editor of the Pharmaceutical Journal Elizabeth Sukkar hit the airwaves today to talk to BBC Radio Tees about the so-called ‘Pink Pill’ as part of the BBC’s week of programmes on ‘Love Later in Life’.
Addyi (flibanserin), dubbed the 'female viagra' can be prescribed to treat acquired hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women but is not licensed in the UK.
Flibanserin has been licensed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
with a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy because of the increased risk of severe hypotension and loss of consciousness due to the interaction between Addyi and alcohol.
