Our Policy and Practice Lead in Wales, Alwyn Fortune, was recently featured on ITV Wales News calling for protected learning time to be in place for pharmacists across all sectors.
The report also highlights to the public the increased clinical services that patients can now access in community pharmacies in Wales, but also stresses the pressures pharmacy teams are facing.
Commenting on the item, Alwyn said:
“While it’s only right that the clinical skills and the increasing prescribing capabilities of a growing number of pharmacists are fully utilised to support patients, the right infrastructure must be in place to support pharmacy teams.
"That means investment so that we have an appropriately skilled workforce that can meet growing demand without the risk of burnout, where training and opportunities to upskill can take place within protected time during the working day”.
