RPS upgrades to Level 2 Disability Confident Employer

We are proud to announce that we have renewed our Disability Confident certificate at level 2.

In November 2019 we signed up to level 1 of the Government’s Disability Confident scheme. This helped us to assess the support we were already providing and identify areas where we could be doing more.

Some of the actions we took from our findings were:

  • We introduced a new applicant tracking system to enable us to improve our recruitment process for those with disabilities and anyone with a protected characteristic.
  • We published our Disability Pay Gap.
  • We partnered with Celebrating Disability to offer disability awareness training for all our employees. Separate in-depth training sessions for line managers and our People Team followed this.

In January 2022 we launched a profession-wide Disability Awareness Campaign – which was informed by volunteers with visible and non-visible disabilities - to help challenge barriers to working in pharmacy.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we will continue to look at further ways of building our knowledge, confidence and understanding of how to create an inclusive and supportive environment where all our employees can flourish and give their best.

RPS Chief Executive Paul Bennett said: “Signing up to the Government’s Disability Confident scheme helped us begin to remove barriers to improve employment opportunities for people with a disability.

“Level 2 means we’ll challenge ourselves to do more. Our focus for 2023 will be on enabling our managers to feel fully confident to support both job applicants and employees and ensuring that they have the training and resources to do this well.”
