The Department of Health has confirmed the appointment of David Mowat as the new Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Community Health and Care with responsibility for pharmacy.
Commenting on the appointment, Chair of the RPS English Pharmacy Board Sandra Gidley said:
“I look forward to working with David Mowat on the important issues that face pharmacists, continuing the very constructive dialogue we had with his predecessor, Alistair Burt. We are seeking an early meeting with the Minister.
“I very much hope he will be able to bring clarity around timing of announcement of community pharmacy reforms which is currently causing great anxiety and concern in the sector.
“It’s also important we continue to progress plans for pharmacists to have enhanced roles within community pharmacy, care homes, GP surgeries and urgent care to improve patient care.”
