Seasons greetings and best wishes from Scottish Pharmacy Board Chair

A lot has happened this year in our profession. We have seen the appointment of our new Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, Dr Rose Marie Parr, who started work on the refresh of Prescription for Excellence (PfE) to ensure it continues to move us in the right direction.
We co-hosted a joint PfE Conference with NES and held our first Scottish National Seminar in Stirling, which were both well received by those attending, and is something we intend to repeat in the future (Keep the date for 17 May 2016 for our joint conference with NES, “Transfer of Care – A Shared Responsibility”).

We saw the publication of the National Primary Care Out of Hours Review and read of the implications for further pharmacy involvement in the delivery of unscheduled care going forward.

There is a lot to celebrate, but at the same time we also have a lot to do in the year ahead and beyond.

As we look to 2016, I look forward to working together with all of you to further shape pharmacy’s future in Scotland and to make the most of the opportunities that come our way. I am committed to support our members to be the best they can be, and to continue promoting the pharmacist's role and the unique contribution pharmacists make to patient care and to our NHS.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and hope that the year ahead lives up to your expectations.

See you in 2016!
