Stoptober returns - time to get ready

Stoptober is a campaign run through community pharmacies from Public Health England to encourage people to stop smoking in October.

Public Health England’s Stoptober campaign encourages smokers across England to make a quit attempt during October and is back for its sixth year. It’s a great time for smokers to quit because stopping smoking for 28 days means you’re five times more likely to quit for good. The campaign will launch on 21st September, to give people time to get ready for the challenge that starts on the first day of October.

PHE are again supporting pharmacies with resources to promote the campaign and to encourage as many quits and quitting conversations as possible during the month.

All small chain and independent pharmacies will be receiving a kit of promotional materials (including conversation starter leaflets, posters and window vinyls) from next Monday 11th September onwards via the Healthcare Distribution Association’s daily deliveries. PHE are also in contact with all pharmacy multiple head offices to coordinate their in-store and online support, so please contact your head office to understand how your organisation is involved.

Encouraging people to quit smoking is vital to improving the nation's health and your support is crucial to make this campaign a success.
