Welsh pharmacist speaks out about the risks of self-diagnosing insomnia

Elen Jones, RPS spokesperson and community pharmacist from Gilfach Goch spoke on BBC Radio Wales and Radio Cymru today about the risks of taking sleeping pills without seeking professional advice.

She highlighted new national research by the RPS, showing that more than one in three people in Wales with insomnia have diagnosed themselves and bought sleeping remedies without consulting a health professional first. Speaking in English and then in Welsh, Elen warned that the long-term use of sleeping remedies could hide a serious health problem which could get worse if it remains untreated.
