Workforce wellbeing: second annual survey

We’ve launched our second annual survey of pharmacists’ mental health and wellbeing in partnership with Pharmacist Support.

The survey has been updated due to the significant impact of COVID-19 on pharmacists and their teams. It’s open to all pharmacists across the profession, including students, and is not restricted to members of RPS.

We’ll take the results to governments across Great Britain, the NHS and wider stakeholders to champion how the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacists can be better supported, including:

  • Getting access to the breaks you need
  • Having the right level of skilled support staff to help you manage your workload
  • Providing access to protected time for professional development
  • Getting equal access to NHS-funded occupational health services

RPS President Sandra Gidley said:

“Coronavirus has changed the landscape of healthcare and caused enormous stress and increased workloads for pharmacists and their teams over the past six months.

“With numbers of COVID-19 cases rapidly rising, pressure is ramping up again and we want to identify the barriers faced in accessing support. The survey results will help us drive change in the areas needed to support the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacists and pharmacy team members. I urge every pharmacist to complete the survey.”

Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive of Pharmacist Support, said:

“Now more than ever, we feel we all need to work together to support the profession and bring about positive change. At Pharmacist Support, we are continuing to develop our wellbeing services so we can offer much-needed support to the profession. We aim to use insight to continue to develop all our services in line with the changing needs of the profession.”
