The RPS Tier 5 (Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange) visa scheme for pre-registration trainees, the Pharmacy Professional Sponsorship Scheme (PPSS), is now closed.
The PPSS was established as a Tier 5 (Temporary Worker - GAE) visa scheme under the Home Office UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) points based immigration system specifically to support those overseas (non-EEA) pharmacy students who were already studying pharmacy at UK universities at the time of the closure of the Tier 1 Post-Study Work (PSW) visa in April 2012.
Successful applicants to the scheme received a Certificate of Sponsorship which enabled them to apply for a Tier 5 visa for leave to remain in the UK in order to complete their pre-registration pharmacist training in the UK before returning to their home country.
The scope of the scheme, as agreed by the Department of Health, does not cover students who started their degree after April 2012.
The scheme closed to new applicants on 30 November 2016; however, RPS will continue to support those trainees currently sponsored for pre-registration training during 2016-17.
Information on other visa options which may be suitable for the pre-registration training year can be found on the UK Visas and Immigration website.
