Helen Davies

Welsh Pharmacy Board

After qualifying in 2003, Helen Davies worked in clinical roles in secondary care at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, then later Royal Glamorgan Hospital. During this time, Helen relished working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

After qualifying as an independent prescriber in her lead clinical role, Helen attended cardiology ward rounds and ran anticoagulant clinics in a GP practice setting, so developing an interest for cross-sector roles.

In addition, Helen has had a keen interest in education, training and developing the pharmacy workforce, from pre-registration pharmacist and diploma tutoring, and in 2014, securing a year's secondment as Acting Associate Course Director for the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy at Cardiff University.

In 2019, Helen was appointed as the Education and Training Lead for Primary Care at Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board. As well as leading on training, Helen is the pharmacist lead for the Community MDTs, and maintains clinical practice within the GP setting.

Helen is also the deputy Cwm Taf Morgannwg AWPAG representative, a Bevan Exemplar and a champion for implementing technological advances for teaching, such as simulation.

Helen was elected to the WPB in 2021 as the primary care sector representative, and is keen to drive the profession forward, recognising the value of the GP Practice Pharmacist and the profession as a whole.

Helen acknowledges that collaborative working and integration of sectors is essential to promote prudent, excellent patient care.
