Mair Davies

Mair is passionate about the profession of pharmacy and the important role the RPS have in supporting and developing pharmacists to deliver the best care they can . Mair has practiced pharmacy for over 45 years and has held senior positions in community, hospital and academia before transitioning from being Chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board to becoming Director for Wales and a period as Interim Director of Education for the RPS.

Mair began her career in hospital pharmacy at the University Hospital of Wales , before moving to Boots and then becoming a proprietor pharmacist for 15 years. After obtaining a Masters degree in Community & Primary Care pharmacy she left Community Pharmacy and there followed some very happy years at Cardiff University leading on postgraduate pharmacy and multidisciplinary courses. She also studied for an MSc in Medical Education, with a special interest in competence and assessment in practice. She served as a member of the GPhC Board of Assessors.

Mair is a Fellow of the RPS, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Faculty RPS and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Pharmacy in Wales in2014 . She is also a recipient of the RPS Charter Award.

Mair is currently an Honorary Professor at Swansea Medical School and has been involved in the development of the School of Pharmacy at Swansea, and currently chairs the External Advisory Board.
