In some exciting PhD research funded by Pharmacy Research UK, researchers at the University of Nottingham are currently exploring the role of the community pharmacist in breast cancer services.
This vital work aims to explore perspectives of patients, pharmacists and stakeholders in identifying the opportunities for developing a community pharmacist-led intervention to support breast cancer survivors. Outcomes of the research are expected to help shape the future of the community pharmacy profession and importantly, improve the lives of those living with and after breast cancer.
Due to the large numbers of women living with and after breast cancer in the UK today, this research has the potential to improve the lives of thousands. It also presents an exciting opportunity for community pharmacists to get involved in influencing the direction of future pharmacy services.
How can you help?
The research team are currently looking for community pharmacists from across England to take part in an online focus group held in January, discussing views on the feasibility of developing a service to better support the needs of breast cancer survivors.
