1) RPS: Information about the new RPS website
As you may know the RPS has developed a new website and is transitioning to this over the next few days. If you are visiting the Local Practice Forum of the new website it will not look as it did before and some of the information on your specific pages may appear to be missing. We have also updated some information to give a consistent look and feel to the pages related to local engagement. Please do not worry any previous information (documents etc.) held on the old RPS website has not been lost, it is in an archive and the pages can easily be updated over the coming weeks.
If you are support or to book events please respond to this email.
2) CPPE: Doncaster Type 2 Diabetes focal point workshop.
From Caroline Stead CPPE Tutor
Around 1 in 20 people in UK have type 2 diabetes1 so it is likely that you will come across people with this condition in your day-to-day practice. Whether you’re a technician helping to identify patients for MUR, a community pharmacist who will undertake that MUR, or a practice pharmacist preparing to undertake a medication review, there’s a lot you can do to support your patients.
If you are in a community role are you aware of the key areas of support for people with type 2 diabetes. Can you signpost them to relevant information and promote the uptake of structured education?
Or if you are a pharmacy professional in general practice, although you might not be offering specialist diabetes clinics, you will be supporting people with type 2 diabetes as part of other clinical roles. Are you prepared for that aspect of your patient’s care?
To find out more about how you can help your patients to self-manage their type 2 diabetes in community and general practice, book on to a CPPE Type 2 diabetes focal point workshop.
