INVITE ON BEHALF OF GREGOR SMITH, DEPUTY CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER, AND ALPANA MAIR, HEAD OF EFFECTIVE PRESCRIBING AND THERAPEUTICS, SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT
Towards a Single National Formulary – national stakeholder event, Tuesday 16 May 2017, 10am – 3pm
Thank you to those who have already replied to this invitation – we look forward to seeing you at the event. This is a novel, high-priority and complex piece of work and we are keen to ensure strong representation from clinical as well as pharmaceutical colleagues.
The Scottish Government has committed to develop a single national formulary by 2019, to address inappropriate variation in medicine use and reduce the overall cost of medicine. Work is already being done in Boards to review and compare local formularies and there is a move towards collaborating on a regional basis.
In order to progress the aim of a single national formulary we are holding a national event to discuss how best to approach this work. This event has a clinical focus and gives an opportunity to consider the challenges, opportunities and practicalities of moving towards national consensus. The event will take place at Stirling Venues, University of Stirling.
We hope you will be able to join this event to help shape the approach. If you are unable to attend please ensure you provide details of a deputy to represent you – the involvement of all interest groups is important to reach an agreed plan for this work.
Please email [email protected] to confirm your attendance or provide details of a nominee to attend on your behalf.
We will issue an agenda and background papers in due course. Meanwhile, should you wish to discuss this please do not hesitate to contact Alpana ([email protected]) or Simon Hurding ([email protected], Tel: 0131 244 2397).
