As a community pharmacist based in Glasgow I am trying to partner with Glasgow Caring City International Relief charity to encourage the donation of medicines from companies as well as pharmacies.I am at the very early stages of starting this up. Do you have any experience/ knowledge in this area you could pass on? I am currently ploughing through guidelines from the RPS and WHO. I completely understand the WHO ruling of not allowing the use of returned medicines but i cannot work out how a charity named Intercare can reuse medicines returned by patients to GP surgeries. Can I legally accept donated POMs from wholesalers and pharmacies? Is the storage of these POMs regulated? The aim, once I have received a list of essentials from the countries I will be dealing with is to start collecting gloves and dressings and then progress into medicines.
Hope you can help
